Gal Gadot To Play First Big Screen Wonder Woman

The upcoming Superman-Batman movie now has a Wonder Woman.  Gal Gadot, who has appeared several films in the "Fast & Furious" franchise, has been cast to play the DC Comics superheroine and her alter ego Diana Prince in the "Man of Steel" sequel.  Gadot will have the distinction of being the first actress to play Wonder Woman on the big screen.  Lynda Carter famously played the character in the 1970s TV series of the same name.  Due out in 2015, the still-untitled "Man Of Steel" sequel will star Henry Cavill in his second turn as Superman and Clark Kent, and Ben Affleck who is making his debut in the Batman-Bruce Wayne role.

The Israel-born Gadot is a model and 2004 Miss Universe contestant.  She has appeared in three "Fast & Furious" films, including this year's "Fast & Furious 6."  In a statement announcing her casting as Wonder Woman, director Zack Snyder called Gal an "amazing actress" who also has "that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role."
